The rule of thumb
The center of the screen should sit close to eye level when you're seated — usually about 40–45 inches from the floor in a living room.
Above a fireplace
Fireplace mounting puts the screen higher than ideal. A tilting or pull-down mount helps, and the wall material (brick, stone, drywall over masonry) changes the anchors needed.
Anchor to structure
TVs should be mounted into studs or with masonry anchors rated for the weight — never plastic drywall anchors.
