Mailbox Replacement
An older roadside mailbox replaced with a new mailbox and support.
The request
The old curbside mailbox had seen better days. The homeowner wanted a new mailbox on solid support that looks good from the road and works for the mail carrier.
Work completed
- Remove the old mailbox: The worn mailbox and its support were taken down.
- Set the new post: A new support was set straight and firm so it won't lean over time.
- Mount the mailbox: The new mailbox was mounted level, with the flag working and the door facing the road.
Result
A clean, straight mailbox that improves curb appeal and is easy for the carrier to reach.
Mailbox post installation tips
USPS guidance places the bottom of a curbside mailbox about 41–45 inches above the road surface and the front about 6–8 inches back from the curb or road edge. Setting the post at the right height and distance from day one avoids missed deliveries and bumped mailboxes.
